“No Appointment Necessary”
Walk-ins welcome!
Yeah they are welcome… welcome to book an appointment online so when they walk in they don’t have to wait.
Let me explain…
Typically when I go to get my haircut I never have to wait.
Just walk in give them my name and wham-o they are cutting my hair.
Nope, I get there yesterday and 3 people are in the waiting room.
Okay no worries I thought, there are 4 people cutting hair…just a few minutes of waiting.
Then I notice their board on the wall…with about 10 names on it and it says waiting time is 65 minutes.
WHAT?
So I asked if that is the right wait time.
Yup, they said.
Then they asked if I booked an appointment online?
Nope, never do, just walk in.
They then inform me it’s best to book online.
I say your sign on the window says, “no appointment necessary”.
They retorted…”that’s right, but an online appointment saves you time.”
So I left and went to another barber 2 miles away and walked right in, no online appointment necessary, and in less than 20 minutes was on my way home with a fresh cut.
Moral of the story: if you are going to advertise “No appointments necessary, walk-ins welcome” then make it easy for walk-ins to feel welcome.
