Hey Rob, I don’t blog because it’s easier just to post to social media.
Me: Yes, I hear that a great deal. Unfortunately, the social media networks are then getting the traffic and not your website.
Me: Okay, but do you own Facebook or control Twitter or work at LinkedIn?
Them: What does that have to do with not blogging.
Me: Simple, when you don’t control the platform you are posting to, you are relying on a 3rd party to facilitate your message. They have full control over how your message is received by an audience.
Me: Posting more articles on your website blog gives you control of your message and what is being seen by your audience. You can share those articles to various social platforms but you are not relying on those platforms because you don’t control them. And instead of the social networks getting the traffic, now your website which you own is getting the traffic.
Them: But I need to come up with blog articles.
Me: The same content you would have shared on social media can be expanded into articles for your website.
Them: Social media is easier.
Me: Yes it is, but now your website has very little informative content that would tell a potential client why they should trust you as the authority in your niche.
Them: But they can just read what I post on my Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
Me: You’re not understanding the importance of posting content to your own platform and that’s why you are not attracting the right clients.
