OMG my posts aren’t being seen by certain people…I bet its that algorithm thing.
But instead of evaluating your posts to see who if any friends are commenting, you post some ridiculous message about Facebook changing their algorithm. In your message you ask your followers to acknowledge your post, as if waiting for some mystical change in how your posts will now magically show up in their feed.
That’s not how it works. That’s not how any of it works.
For 10 years I’ve been educating clients on effective ways to build engagement with their fans and it’s all about the experience you provide to them. Posting some dumb message about an algorithm change isn’t going to change that overall experience your fans, friends and followers receive from you.
In 2012, I wrote an e-book called “Social Media Debunked” where I explained why “old school techniques” still work and how you need to mix those techniques with your current social media campaigns.
In 2013, I wrote “Share: 27 Ways To Boost Your Social Media Experience, Build Trust and Attract Followers” which gave readers practical ideas on what to post to enhance that engagement.
In 2017 I cowrote with Lorri Ratzlaff “No Experience Necessary: Social Media For The Boomers, Gen-xers and The Over 50 Entrepreneur.” In that book we explain how to use social media to grow your legacy.
So instead of posting stuff that really doesn’t excite your audience why not learn to post stuff that does.
Because…It’s not the algorithm, it’s you!
Yeah, your posts are boring. And, your fans don’t want to engage with boring posts.
So, why not take a few minutes before posting and ask yourself, is this something that my fans might find interesting or just another thing they’ve seen before?
If you made the mistake of adding friends you really don’t know or buying likes for your facebook page, that could be another reason your posts aren’t being seen. So instead of blaming the algorithm, look at your lists and clean it up. Get rid of the unknowns.
Again, blaming the so-called algorithm for your posts not getting seen will not improve your engagement.
You need to improve your engagement.
- Do a live video and answer 3 questions that tell your fans more about you.
- Ask for advice in regard to a problem you need solved.
- Tell fans about an experience you had that might help them.
