A year ago I loaded the SnapChat app on my iPhone and after about a day I deleted it. I thought this is one screwed up way to engage my audience. Seriously…what’s the appeal? You snap a picture or video and the viewer has 6 seconds to see it before it disappears. UGH!
Nope! I deleted the app!
Then 3 months ago I was encouraged by a client to start using it again. I was reluctant at first, but then I warmed up to Snapchat. I actually gained 2 new clients directly from using this app and the audience interaction seems better than other social networks.
It’s become the “behind the scenes” of social networks. Yep, pictures, video and emoji’s help show your fans, friends and followers more of who you are, where you live and the places you hang out. Snapchat enables you to engage with your audience in a way the other social networks can’t.
You can record video questions and send them back and forth. You can use Snapchat’s messaging to send messages or quickly comment on a picture someone posted. You can snap a picture and add text then download and share across your social networks…but best of all…
You can create Geofilters and use them to promote an event you are having. What are Geofilters you might be asking? Geofilters are translucent images that overlay on top of your pictures or videos that enhance what you’re sharing and give the viewer an idea of where you, what you’re doing or a promotion that’s happening.
Anyway if you’ve tried Snapchat before and didn’t like it or are on the fence about using it…I would suggest giving it a second chance. I’m sure Facebook or Twitter were confusing too when you first starting using them. Snapchat is actually easier I think to use and definitely more rewarding.
