So apparently the Facebook ad below is making vegans and vegetarians lose their minds and causing them to have nightmares.
Here’s what someone posted…
Is anyone else appalled by this copy-write? Bacon!? Something isn’t right here. This popped up in my newsfeed and I’m a vegetarian. I am posting this as a friendly reminder to be careful when advertising on Facebook. Through interest targetting you may easily block vegans or vegetarians from seeing ads trying to use bacon or any other type of meat product to sell xyz.
Look, Facebook may have the skinny on everyone’s likes and interests, this ad although poorly written wasn’t targeting meat eaters. It was comparing a product that is known in North America to be of superior quality, yet it offended those who prefer not to eat meat.
Now, as to the interest targeting for Facebook ads…there are a great deal of options you can use. However, the more people you exclude from seeing the ad, the less of a response you will get.
Now if you write copy and design ads for companies, you might want to add vegans and vegetarians to your list of people not to upset.
Well, I’m off to bed to dream about bacon now. 🙂
