Answer me this…

Why when impending doom is announced people go out and buy milk and bread?

Those are the first two things to spoil quickly…yet people are stocking up on them.

And why are people NOT prepared for these disasters?

Everyone should have at least two weeks worth of food to live on. They should have an emergency medical kit ready in case of injuries. They should have portable crank or solar chargers to keep cell phones charged. They should have several size tarps, ropes and duct tape. They should have candles, batteries and flashlights. They should have extra fuel (gas, kerosene or propane) for motorized vehicles, generators or other power equipment. And they should have a plan that spells out what they need to do in a storm, flood, fire or evacuation.

Yes, they should have all that. Yet, they don’t.

It’s just easier for most people to live day to day never thinking about the future, never preparing for a “what if” event.

Then when an impending disaster is announced, these ill-prepared people scramble to grab the last remnants of milk and bread, as if their life depended on it. And sadly, some of them will fight to the death to claim the right to buy those much needed items.

Forget the milk and bread…those are the least of your worries. Make sure you have a plan, make sure you have emergency supplies, make sure you know what do to help you, your family and neighbors stay safe.

For me, I would rather have it and not need it, then need it and have to fight my neighbor to get it.
