Was in the local post office the other day…

and overheard several postal employees saying with Amazon buying their own fleet of vehicles that their postal jobs could be cut over the next few years.

A few things to consider…

Amazon has been gearing up for this for the last decade. This should not come as a shocker.

In fact, it was Amazon that forced the Post Office to deliver on Sundays. So if Amazon removes the USPS as a delivery agent for their packages, the Postal Service can go back to not delivering on Sundays. Heck, eliminate Saturday service too. Go to a 4 week delivery service. It certainly would make the USPS more leaner and maybe more profitable. Because we all know the postal service has been losing countless amounts of money for decades.

But Amazon’s decision to buy their own fleet of delivery vehicles would also cut into UPS and FedEx’s profits as well. Again, these services became so ingrained in the thinking that Amazon would never try to get into the delivery game.

And yet, they are.

Consumers are ordering books, groceries, auto parts, surfing gear, pet supplies, whatever they need, Amazon’s got it…and they will now deliver it straight to your door.

I have friends that work in the Postal Service, UPS and FedEx and they all do a great job…and I understand their frustrations.
