(watch the video or scroll below to read the transcripts)

FOMO is an acronym which stands for Fear Of Missing Out. And here’s the thing about FOMO is that up until social media nobody knew what FOMO meant. Nor did they care. But social media the act of checking your status every couple of minutes is that fear of missing out on what your friends, fans and followers are posting. You want to know what’s going on. But here’s the thing…is that the more you check your social status online the more you miss out on whats going on in the real world. So FOMO the fear of missing out is actually
causing you to miss out on real life adventures.

I love social media, it has taken my business to a whole new level. It’s given me the ability to be able to teach social media to lawyers, doctors, professionals all over the world. That’s great. But, there’s a time and place for social media, and there doesn’t have to be a fear of missing out on anything.

Schedule, schedule, schedule!

That is the key.

Schedule your time, schedule your life (well, it’s always hard to schedule that), but you don’t need to be checking your phone every couple of seconds to see whats going on. You’re not going to miss anything…trust me.

I just saw this mentioned on a program called “The View” (an ABC program- airing on June 8, 2016) and the women were going around and they’re talking about FOMO like it’s a new thing. I reported about FOMO 3 years ago on my Facebook page, in fact it was August 6, 2013 and I said, “FOMO=Fear of Missing Out. That’s why social media has become so successful, people want to know what is going on.” They have that fear of missing out. Right?

You can get on social media, you can check what’s going on with your fans, friends and followers, but make sure you enjoy life. Go out there and meet people. Real people. Go out there and do things. Try new adventures. The world doesn’t revolve around social media. It revolves around the personal relationships you create with other people. Don’t miss out.
