The iconic day celebrated by geeks around the world…Star Wars day!
It’s a play on words…the proverbial Jedi mind trick!
May the 4th equals May The Force.
Although the first Star Wars movie “A New Hope” hit theaters in May 25, 1977 it would take 34 years before May The Fourth was celebrated.
In 2011, the first organized celebration of Star Wars Day took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the Toronto Underground Cinema.
To the majority of the world, maybe!
To those who have embraced George Lucas’ vision, characters and galaxies far, far away May the 4th is a symbol of Hope for them and a chance to showcase their Jedi skills without being ridiculed…as much.
Hey, I’m even wearing a Star Wars Japanese edition “A Hew Hope” t-shirt as I write this…so there’s that.
And although silly to some, this is just one more option in the every growing list of “unofficial” holidays to celebrate with your clients. Yep…I’m talking about marketing.
Let your inner geek out and celebrate one of the greatest space tales of all time. Get your friends, fans and followers involved. Run a Star Wars contest. Be creative…use the force. Have fun with it.
You might be surprised how many people share your love of Star Wars and want to be part of your celebration. It’s not too late…there’s still time to get that email or text campaign out…or even run a special on your social networks.
May The Fourth Be With You!
