When a lawyer misinterprets the law and then calls those who call him out on social media a bunch of morons you really have to wonder how good he really is at defending cases.
Opposing council: I object to his line of questioning.
Angry lawyer: You can’t object you’re a moron.
Sadly, I’m seeing this more and more as lawyers are entering the social world. They seem to forget about their title as defenders of justice and allow their emotions to take over.
This is precisely why I encourage a buffer (someone – an employee, or social media manager) to shield them from saying the wrong thing on social that could cost them a case.
Sure lawyers are human too and they have every right to use social media. But when they defame another person in a public forum they could ultimately lose all credibility and cost themselves cases.
