Hah, did I get your attention?
Most people that know me, know that I don’t say the F word, or at least I try not to in public. Those who know me know that I will continue to help them market their businesses the best way I know how (especially during turbulent times).
But that being said…I will no longer tolerate those who don’t value me or my experience.
My time, just like yours, is valuable, so it needs to be treated as such. If all you want is a cheap service or you feel the need to dictate to me the terms of how I should help you…I won’t even be polite…I will tell you to kick rocks, pound sand and go somewhere else.
And if for some unknown reason after I allowed you into my inner circle of clients and you feel like tempting fate…by trying to monopolize my time, or wanting me to join your weekly (phone, video or online) meetings you’d better be willing to pay for my time to do so. And giving me this excuse…”But Rob, we already pay you a monthly fee for your service“…will have you fired quicker than a New York minute. The monthly fee I charge does not and will never include me joining in your nonsensical weekly calls (of which 99.99% of the time could have been an email).
I’m telling you right now…don’t do it.
Unfortunately, there will be more than a few of you who will try…and for me it provides fodder for my books and blog articles.
Well… now that you know a bit about me and my “take no bullshit” personality…
And, how I do business… are you scared?
If you are, don’t call me.
Honestly, I’m not the hand holding consultant that tells you everything will be okay.
I’m a “tell it like it is” guy, who has 25+ years of experience running companies, producing profits and helping clients achieve awesome results.
But I don’t have time for shenanigans, wishy-washy entrepreneurs or those that ask for my help than consult their social media friends. Oh, you laugh at that, but…it happens everyday to not only me but a great deal of awesome consultants I know. It’s as if by posting on social media you want validation about your decision to hire a coach or consultant and then we are being evaluated and tested against a group of unknown wanna-be business people who have never made a dime in their lives.
Oh and if you are the type of entrepreneur who doesn’t like to be uncomfortable, having someone push you to new levels or suggest directions that are different than what you’re used to or doesn’t like to take action then we will never be a fit. Just saying.
So yeah, not many people fit the bill in who I decide to be my client. I guess that’s fortunate for me. Some of you struggle to have a business where you can be selective in who you accept as clients. Some of you accept anyone that breathes as a client or anyone that flashes money at you. Hey I was like that once, and honestly I hated every minute of it.
Then I discovered I could be better. I could be selective. I could even be a jerk and tell people to kick rocks. That’s the beauty of running a business on your terms and conditions. You can make it how you wish. And enabling yourself to say NO to clients that just don’t fit, gives you the opportunity to say YES to those that really want your help, value your time and won’t argue over your price.
So, say “F*CK IT!” right now to the way you run your business and let’s get you dialed in to running a business on terms that center around you and your personality.
