Oh I love these scenarios…
Someone refers their client to me.
I spend 30 minutes on video conference on a consultation call.
Give them a price.
Potential client gets all flaky about price.
Hires someone at half the price.
Gets lousy results.
Contacts me again after many weeks goes by and wants to have us do the work.
Potential client doesn’t want to get burned twice so asks if they can make a few smaller payments instead of one big payment.
Then wants a list of current clients they can call to verify we are legitimate.
My response is always the same…
I never give out my client’s contact information for privacy reasons.
Nor would they appreciate getting tons of calls from my clients interrupting their day to day operations.
You were referred to me by someone who understands my work and what I stand for, trust them.
I appreciate that you want to check me out and make sure I can do a legitimate job for you, but for me this is a very small job. And it’s not worth all the hoop jumping.
So if you want to move forward, great. If not, then I wish you well.
