For 9 years we heard the phrase “The Truth Is Out There”…
…it sunk into our minds and made us question if indeed aliens really existed.
Then in 2002, the end came. And sadly, we were left wondering.
Thirteen years went by and suddenly out of the blue…
The X-Files returns.
More conspiracies…more aliens…more doubt…more secrets… and yet…
It’s the same!
Nothing really changed.
For better or for worse…it paid off!
The gimmick is that it was a successful show for FOX and they realized that.
It didn’t matter how much time passed…people wanted more.
Dana Scully…Fox Mulder…the Cigarette Smoking Man…and the other cast of characters that made the show…all returned.
FOX could have gone the route of rebooting the show with younger actors, but it wouldn’t have been the same.
Nope…viewers wanted the same characters.
And due to the success of bringing those characters back…NBC followed with the return of “Will & Grace”.
Yup, Will, Grace, Jack & Karen returning as if they never left.
Same antics…same punchlines…same over-the-top innuendos…same, same, same, same.
So why do I share all this?
What’s the X-Files and Will & Grace have to do with anything?
Well, as an entrepreneur, your audience doesn’t want you to go away.
They want to feel like part of the family.
They have their own vested interest in you.
So although years might go by in between them buying from you, they need to know they will receive the same warm and fuzzy experience every time. They want to know you’re going to be there. They want to feel that nostalgia.
Yes, the truth is out there…and your audience knows where to find it.
It doesn’t matter how much time has passed.
