One of my clients received this anonymous 1 star review on their Google profile.

We’ve tried many times to flag it as there is no way to verify who this dissatisfied customer is.

This is the problem with online reviews such as Google (and Facebook and Yelp) they let people hide behind fake personas to leave disparaging remarks, comments and negative or toxic reviews. And there is no way to tell if this was a legitimate complaint or just a competitor trying to discredit my client.

Look at the name of person commenting… “A Nonymous”… seriously, WTF! And Google allows it to remain because their system deems it perfectly acceptable. Oh, their system sends an email right after you initiate a report on the flagged review which reads, “Hi, Thanks for flagging potential policy or legal violations on Google. We’ve received your report under the following abuse category: spam or unwanted content.” – signed the Google Team

Unfortunately, a few hours to days later and Google sends out another message saying the negative review doesn’t go against established guidelines are will be allowed to stay.

I think going forward all reviews need to be verified as a legitimate customer, the picture and name of the customer clearly stated and if false in anyway it should be removed immediately.

These online reputation review “hall monitors” want you to believe that they are delivering the most honest, ethical and trustworthy of services yet continue to allow dishonest, falsified and down right vile information to be posted about others in such a disingenuous way. And it’s blatantly obvious.

I will continue to flag these erroneous reviews to help restore my clients online reputation. I fight for them everyday.
