Scrolling through LinkedIn this morning and I noticed about 20 posts from employees of The Walt Disney Company and affiliate companies all talking about creating Disney Magic.

And I love Disney. I’m a huge fan. And if I didn’t own my own media, marketing and publishing company my dream job would be working for the Mouse.

The culture of creating magic is synonymous with Disney. Just the word ‘magic” and most people think of Disney. Companies all over the world emulate Disney’s training and systems in hopes of being better. Some even proclaim “I Disneyfied my business.”

But… (I’m sure you were waiting for that)

Why aren’t you creating your own magic in your company?
Why aren’t you creating a culture that has customers returning time and time again.
Why aren’t you embracing your own style, personality or way of thinking?
Why aren’t you empowering your employees to share that magic?

As an entrepreneur I think about the legacy I’ll leave behind and how what I’m doing now will effect the next generation of entrepreneurs. Is what I’m doing helping them understand who they are and how best to serve or is it just about some image of me that I want them to know?

Each one of us has the ability to create magic. Sure, use the ideas, techniques, systems and imagery of Disney to guide you…but make it your own. Leave your indelible mark on the world.

Because who knows…in 20, 30, 50 years after you’re gone there might be millions of people who celebrate you everyday.
