“Rob my business is unique, how can you help me convey my message if you’ve never helped this type of industry before?”
Before I even write the first word for your blog articles or design the content for your social or even figure out the keywords and phrases for your website SEO…I learn about you and why you started this unique business.
I discover your passion.
I ask questions.
I listen to your personality, the nuances and inflections.
And then, I start learning about your industry.
You see, you are what makes your business unique.
So, I focus on that first.
That way it’s easier to convey your message to your fans, friends and followers.
The way you do things, they way you explain how everything works, the way you talk to clients…that’s the uniqueness.
Once I understand that uniqueness, that’s when I craft your marketing message, and help you understand your brand awareness.
“But, Rob, wouldn’t it be better if I hired someone familiar with what I do to help me market?”
If that person can capture your personality within articles, social media posts and website content then sure. But what I find, is those that are in the same industry as you tend to use language that is industry specific and doesn’t help put clients or potential customers at ease. They don’t use your jargon, your personality or even passion and when readers discover it doesn’t sound like you, then the trust you hoped to create is gone.
