Most people don’t need another inspirational quote.
They don’t need another “hustle harder” speech.
They don’t need another guru telling them to manifest a Lamborghini in 48 hours.
What they need is a wake-up call.
On Episode 384 of E-Heroes, I sit down with my friend Jon Lovgren to talk about his new book: Spiritual Bitch Slap.
And yes, it sounds provocative. That’s the point.
Because if you’re drifting through life on autopilot—half asleep, stuck in survival mode—soft titles don’t get your attention. This one does.
Jon described it perfectly: it’s not an insult. It’s not gendered. It’s not about attacking anyone.
It’s spirit trying to get you to wake up and pay attention.
A course correction.
Autopilot Is the New Epidemic
I deal with entrepreneurs all day long. And what I’ve noticed…especially in the last few years…is a lot of people have given up.
Not loudly. Quietly.
They show up. They go through the motions. They keep busy. But there’s no spark. No purpose. No meaning. And when you ask them how they’re doing, you get the same answer:
“Fine.”
Pfft.
“Fine” is the word people use when they don’t want to look too closely.
Jon’s book is designed to force the look.
Going Within Is Hard… That’s Why It Works
One of the biggest themes we discussed is that the hardest work isn’t out there. It’s in here.
Going within is uncomfortable. It forces you to admit things you’ve been avoiding. It forces you to face the version of yourself you’ve been performing for others.
And Jon nailed the biggest blocker most people have:
“What will other people think?”
That one question has prevented more success, happiness, and healing than any lack of talent ever has.
The Book Isn’t a One-Time Read
This isn’t the kind of book you read once and then toss in a garage sale box for ten cents.
People keep it on the coffee table. Or the kitchen counter. And when something happens during the day—stress, frustration, a trigger—they open the book and it hits what they need.
That’s because it’s built as a reflection tool, not just “information.”
There are prompts. Journaling. Meditations. And Jon even created a set of tarot-style reflection cards so you can randomly pull what you need—especially when you don’t want to admit what you need.
Ho’oponopono and the Power of Consistency
We also talked about Ho’oponopono—the “magic words”:
I love you. I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.
People think it’s too simple. “That can’t work.”
Same with affirmations.
But neuroscience doesn’t care if you think it’s cheesy. Neuroplasticity responds to repetition. Consistency is what builds the habit, rewires the response, and creates change that sticks.
Pay It Forward… Without Expectations
Jon lives this stuff. He runs a weekly book study in Hawaii (safe space rules, real conversations, journaling, laughter, sometimes tears). And everything is contribution-based because he doesn’t want lack of funds to prevent someone from getting help.
But he said something that needs to be said more:
If you’re “paying it forward” and you’re wondering when it’s coming back… you didn’t pay it forward. You made a deal.
Real giving doesn’t come with an invoice attached.
The Point of the Slap
The slap isn’t punishment.
It’s a signal.
It’s that moment when life taps you on the shoulder and says:
“Hey… you’re not listening.”
“Hey… you’re repeating the same pattern.”
“Hey… you’re pretending to be okay.”
And if you learn to love the slap, you stop fearing it.
Because every trigger becomes a clue.
Every reaction becomes information.
And every “hit” becomes a chance to heal what you didn’t even know was there.

And remember: your life can be better than what it is… but sometimes you need that course correction to wake you up.
