Navigating Hollywood
How Writers, Actors, Directors & Producers Can Achieve More By Thinking Creatively.
“This book is a must-have eye-opener for anyone trying to break into Hollywood! There is an entire business side to this industry that they didn’t teach me about in screenwriting courses. Avoid making some common and costly mistakes on the road to achieving your dreams by taking advantage of the years of wisdom within. Learning how EPs, Producers, Directors, and Investors operate and work together has caused me as a writer to better understand the entire process and appreciate the enormity of bringing my story to the screen. This should be required reading in every screenwriting course!” ~ Christie E. Hayman, Multi-Optioned Screenwriter

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
“This is not the book I expected when Rob Anspach asked me to read it and comment. It is actually an excellent text book on the real ‘dos and don’ts’ of Hollywood and the show business industry. At the risk of waxing nostalgic, I kept thinking of the old Hollywood saying Ern Westmore, the Dean of Hollywood Makeup Artists, shared with me one night after telling me hours of “Old Hollywood” stories. Ern lifted his glass and offered a toast. “Well, here’s to the Hollywood that always will be . . . but never was.”~ Ben Gay III, Speaker, Sales Trainer and Author of “The Closers” series.
CUTS STRAIGHT TO THE POINT
“For people just beginning their entertainment business careers, or for people who want to get into the business, Jonathan Thompson is the journeyman, the old hand who has been through it all, and he’s here to share his high points. Sit with Jonathan, grab a pint, and listen as he distills his decades of showbiz experience into digestible, pithy, and often funny nuggets that cut straight to the point.”
~ Eric Ridley, Attorney, Editor, Cinematographer.
A NEW PERSPECTIVE
“Jonathan Thompson informs with his new book ‘Navigating Hollywood’. If you are just starting out or have been in the business for 20 years, Jonathan gives you the proper tools and a new perspective on the business of marketing yourself to studios. A book that should be part of any film majors curriculum.” Ryan Crissey, CEO, Watch Us Fly Studios
ENTERTAINING & EYE OPENING
“Navigating Hollywood is an interesting book. I say this despite the fact that I have no desire to go to Hollywood. The lessons Jonathan shares in this amazing book are ones that apply to us all, regardless of whether we want to be the next Clint Eastwood or just watch him. I do not want to give away the plot, but… if you are wondering why you do not have the success you want in life, it is very likely because you make one of the same mistakes Jonathan points out that actors, directors, and producers make. This book is entertaining and eye-opening. I had more than one ‘Ah-ha’ moment as I recognized that everyone has a role to play and we run into trouble when the actor tries to do the director’s job.” ~ Scott “The Hobbit” Paton, Executive Producer (42 Podcasts, 100+ courses)
FROM THE HEART
“Absolutely fantastic, very readable, insightful, honest, and from the heart. Rather than coming from a place of an authority figure on the topics, it was presented rather from someone’s actual genuine and humble experiences.” ~ Gary A. Familathe, Independent Producer
A WARM INVITING FEEL
“Navigating Hollywood: How Writers, Actors, Directors And Producers Can Achieve More By Thinking Creatively” is very entertaining, insightful, thought provoking and eye-opening book. Jonathan Thompson is the go to guy of go to guys. The lessons he shares in this book can and will apply to anyone looking to break in to the business. I liked the bits of humor interjected throughout, and combined with the knowledge and experience Jonathan has, gives the entire book a warm inviting feel that doesn’t detract from the educational points.” ~ Rob Nelson, Screenwriter, Author, Artist.
